I am one of the oldest clients– since before the doors opened in the 80’s. I have had excellent vets, the lives of cats saved in emergencies and prolonged in ordinary non-emergency life. It is always state of the art care–and personal. Photos are of emergency survivors–a litter of 5 at 6 weeks from food poisoning and cardiac arrest during castration. Thank you, Westside.

Dr Friedman is a gift from
Heaven. My dog and cat have been seeing her several years. She picked up on my dogs lung cancer extremely early and saved his life. We were referred to specialists who promptly removed the cancer. She is the absolute best. Extremely professional and extremely kind human being. Her support staff is equally fantastic and I paid some of them to walk the dog when I was out of town. They are all fantastic. Best vet clinic I’ve ever been to, and I cannot sing the praises for Dr Friedman any louder. She is so very brilliant and kind.

I love this place. Dr. Friedman is amazing and my dog Chase really loves her. Her and all of the staff are gentle and so attentive and make us feel super welcomed. I’ve been to plenty of vets and have never been treated so well like we are here. So thankful to have started coming here.

Upon unexpectedly adopting a baby Congo African Grey Parrot twenty years ago, we were referred to Dr. Karen Cantor at the Westside Veterinary Center for his initial health screening and follow-up care.
Early in his life, our parrot suffered an injury to one of his talons, requiring immediate medical attention. Dr. Cantor’s expertise, and her kind, gentle handling of our precious bird, were reassuring, both to him and to us.
Throughout these many years, Dr. Cantor has always responded promptly and patiently to every phone call, offering invaluable guidance and information.
We are grateful beyond words for Dr. Cantor, and for the blessing of her exceptional avian care.

I first came to this place a couple years ago after a cat-specific vet turned my boy away while literally telling me if he wasn’t seen right away he could die. Westside took him right away. They seem to really care about the animals they work with and overall are very, very good at easing worrisome pet owners such as myself. It is hit or miss with specific vets, some of course are better/more caring/nicer than others, but as a whole this place is great. The vets call to check up if it’s an ongoing issue, they return calls almost always same day, and they will slow down and take the time to listen and explain when asked. They also are always trying to make sure that you aren’t spending more than you need for various treatments. Definitely recommend!

We have had such a wonderful and remarkable experience having Kim Rosenthal care for our dogs. We started seeing Kim only about a year ago, but she immediately became an indispensable part of our lives. Our older dog, Sam, had started to develop multiple health challenges. Kim stood by and with us the entire time, bringing a mixture of creativity, practicality and compassion that helped us navigate the last year of his life. We felt at all times that she was with us all the way, always thinking of new possibilities and options to try out no matter how patchwork. She listened carefully to what we needed and responded with empathy and genuine help. Eventually, we had to euthanize Sam. It was such a sad moment for our family, but with Kim’s help, we felt sure that we had done all we could and were honoring his life with us. For us, Kim has been both a great doctor and an equally outstanding human being. We are so grateful that we can continue to rely on her as a vet for our younger dog.

Following 7 years of mixed (mostly negative) experiences at another neighborhood vet, I decided to try Westside Vet Center following the recommendation of a friend. Differences were night and day. The prior vet NEVER saw my dog on time, causing my dog high level anxiety while we waited in the tiny waiting area where they allowed a dog to wander off leash as well as a cat (which also stressed my dog.). Westside’s lobby is 3x the size, no animals are off leash, and even though I arrived early I was taken immediately to a small room and the vet came shortly. The vet was knowledgeable, took her time to examine my dog, and made an accurate diagnosis. All the staff were friendly, professional, and most importantly, never made me wait. And, finally, and most importantly, I took my dog for a visit on Sunday morning. I promptly received a call from Dr. Jones early Monday morning with the blood test results and further discussion on. my dog’s health and prognosis. I highly recommend Westside Veterinary Center.

Could not speak more highly of Westside vets. I live in Harlem where I have other local vets but I would not use another practice. Always friendly – I feel 100% confident in their services. Dr Friedman is awesome! Charlotte and Milo

Our cat was having behavioral issues and we were able to use the website to quickly schedule a visit for the next day. We barely waited 5 minutes in the waiting room before we were escorted to the room where our cat would be seen. Our vet was responsive and helpful. Good experience!!

Best vet in the city bar none. From the front desk to the vet techs to the vets themselves all are professional and caring and clearly love not only animals but their jobs. We go to Dr Rosenthal and have truly never felt our dogs are in better hands

I have been a customer for several years and Dorothy was always in the best hands. And then with Sir Benedict Archibald we were back. Unfortunately we moved so we tried other option until SBA was sick and I wan unhappy with how it was handled. So we took a cab and we got back to see Dr. Rutherford. Best decision ever. Thank you always and we will learn to ride a train.
